We had 2 very comfortable nights here and would happily stay again. Everyone was helpful and attentive and the room was spacious and well appointed. Breakfasts were great and the food in the pub was tasty. For the price, it's a wonderful value and we were happy to have found it!
Davitt's was a bit unlike other places we stayed in Ireland in that the room was more modern and spacious (like a hotel we might find in the States), but the hospitality was truly Irish! When we arrived, we were given a very nice room with lots of space compared to where we had last come from. We were pleased, but did notice that our window had no view (except to an alleyway). After our first night, we had the pleasure of meeting Mary and she said that we could move into a larger room upstairs with more light. We did not ask for the room and told Mary that we didn't think it would be worth us packing up our stuff and moving for the remainder of the stay. She said "no hurry" -- just let her know our decision when we return from our day of sightseeing. Well, when we returned to our room later that day, we found all our stuff gone from the room. It was a bit disconcerting at first, but I knew what must have happened. They moved all our stuff for us!! And, the new room was much better! It had 2 huge sky lights which let tons of sunshine into the room. Plus, a sky light in the bath area which had a large tub/shower. These sky light windows open, and considering we were blessed with beautiful weather while in Kenmare, we were able to enjoy the fresh air and warm sunshine for the remainder of our stay. Their move of our stuff was amazing. They got every little thing that was in our previous room (down to the razor and little shampoo bottle in the shower). We had no idea that they would do this for us!
The location of Davitt's can't be beat. Walk out the door and you are on one of the main streets lined with shops, restaurants and pubs. Free parrking was available in back -- it was a very small area, so I'm not sure where everyone would park during peak season, but it was not a problem for us in October.
The breakfast was wonderful. A great buffet of cereals, breads, fruits, juices, etc. and a selection of hot items that are freshly cooked. Davitt's has an outdoor patio area and we enjoyed it one afternoon for drinks. The bartender was very friendly and he went out of his way to try and find my husband a cigar cutter.
I would definitely return to Davitt's if I visit Kenmare again!
Best Stay on this Visit to Ireland.- Theis small hotel is located in the core of Kenmare- everything is close. Inside the hotel is tastefully decorated giving a sense of attantion to detail. Our Room No 8 had 2 skylights in a sloped ceiling. Superb Accommodation. But thats not all. The Pub has a good Restaurant. Staff competent & genuinely Friendly
Faultless- The town was shocks when we arrives- pretty much all central B & Bs were full. Took a chance with this little gem- and although settled on a room directly on the main road- was pleasantly surprised that it pretty much enhanced our evening live Music Foly streaming in from the Pub below to lull us to sleep
Business Stopover- I recently had the pleasure of a one night stay I was very impressed with the hotel, the rooms & food were first class and the value was excellent. Next time in Kenmare will definitely stay in Davitts
